Welcome to Tina Phelps Stage School
The Tina Phelps Stage School provides a high standard of
performing arts in a fun and friendly environment.
Classes are held for all ages from 2+ in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz,
Street and Musical Theatre. Adult ballet classes are also available.

The location of the school is close to central Southend and the
facilities include; A fully equipped mirrored dance studio
complete with Harlequin dance floor and Ballet barres, we also
have a brand new waiting area, kitchen and toilets.
Regular ISTD examinations are taken in Ballet,
Modern & Tap. Some pupils also partake in no less than four
local festivals per year of which they have a very good
success rate. A big favourite with all the pupils is the bi-annual
show which takes place at one of the local theatres to show
how the pupils have progressed and to give them a chance to shine and
perform on stage.
A new discipline has been added to the school recently
Contemporary. This is a fantasitic opportunity for GCSE pupils to gain
extra help with this subject.
The school currently has a variety of staff ranging from very
experienced teachers to performers who come to the school to pass on
their knowledge first hand from the entertainment industry. All staff
are fully qualified and CRB checked. The main syllabus classes are
taught by Miss Tina Phelps (principal) and Miss Jayne Harvey. They have
over 30 years of teaching experience between them. Tina trained at
'Laine Theatre Arts' and then went on to teach in Canada. Jayne trained
with 'The Royal Ballet' and went on to perform in various countries.
More details about the teaching staff are available in the school
prospectus which also contains information on timetables, fees and
uniform requirements. All photography provided by Alan Blackholly.
At the 'Tina Phelps Stage School' we believe each pupil should be
treated equally and that although it is nice to be important it is more
important to be nice.
